From Port Elizabeth Airport to N2 to Grahamstown:

Turn left out of airport into Allister Miller Drive and continue to robots (traffic lights) at junction with Heugh Road.  Turn right into Heugh Road and follows this towards beachfront (road becomes Walmer Boulevard).  At T-junction and robots with M4 (Humewood Road/Settlers Way), turn left and follows signs for the N2 and Grahamstown.  Follow directions below.

N2 from Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route:
N.B. From Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown, the normal journey time is 1 ½ hours.

Approaching Grahamstown, do not take the first exit off the N2, but continue to next exit signposted "Business District/George Street/R67 Port Alfred".  Take off ramp left; turn left at bridge into George Street.  Continue down long hill into Grahamstown, at 4-way stop with Market Street turn right and you will see The Cock House immediately on the right corner.

TO RHODES UNIVERSITY

Approaching Grahamstown, take the first exit off the N2.  At the first traffic light, turn left into Somerset Street.  Turn left at Lucas Ave (between History and Albany Museums).  After first speed hump, turn right and Rhodes University main building will be on your left.

FROM RHODES TO THE COCK HOUSE

Exit the campus and turn right into Somerset Street.  Continue straight until you get to traffic lights at Beaufort Street.  Turn left into Beaufort Street.  At the next traffic lights, turn right into Hill Street and take second left into Market Street (Dutch Reformed Church on the corner of Hill and Market).  Continue straight; you will get to a 4-way stop and you will see The Cock House immediately on the right corner of Market and George Streets.   Park at the front and, once you have checked in, we will direct you to our car park.

N2 from King William’s Town, East London, Wild Coast, Durban:

Approaching Grahamstown, take first exit left off the N2 signposted "Business District/George Street/R67 Port Alfred".  Turn right and cross bridge over N2, this road becomes George Street.  Continue down long hill into Grahamstown, at 4-way stop with Market Street turn right and you will see The Cock House immediately on the right corner.

N.B: If coming via the N2 from Durban / Wild Coast, shortly after crossing the Kei River, turn right off the N2 on to the R63 via Komga, Bhisho and King William’s Town.  Follow the signs through King William’s Town for Grahamstown and rejoin the N2.

Approaching from the North (Cradock, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg etc):

Enter Grahamstown on the R350 from Bedford, passing golf course on left.  At traffic circle (roundabout) opposite St Andrews College Chapel, go straight (you are now in Somerset Street), passing St Andrews College.  Continue along Somerset Street, go straight at the traffic lights at Beaufort Street and go up a steep hill.  Take the third turning on left into Market Street, go straight at crossing with Hill Street and at the next 4-way stop with George Street, you will see The Cock House on the far right corner.

Approaching from the North (via N6 to Aliwal North and Queenstown, R67 via Fort Beaufort):

Journey time from Fort Beaufort to Grahamstown is approx 1 hour.  Continue on R67 to junction with the N2, turn right.  Take first exit left off the N2 signposted "Business District/George Street/R67 Port Alfred".  Turn right and cross bridge over N2, this road becomes George Street.  Continue down long hill into Grahamstown, at 4-way stop with Market Street turn right and you will see The Cock House immediately on the right corner.
